Shadows, by chloe spider, is an astoundingly distinctive tune that manages to be both soothing and energizing at the same time. In playing the track, I heard what seemed like an otherworldly emotion. More so after the beat kicks in, it will sound like a sketch of indie or lofi origin. The vocalist has a beautiful voice and an elegant range in her craft. The track reminded me of the British band βDaughter,β whose members construct dreamy, almost shoegaze-like aspects of indie music. Hence, chloeβs music is a genuine representation of the artistic and meditative sides of her personality.
She incorporated synth bass and some unusual drum pads with a powerful buildup, giving the tune the sensation of a rhythmic piece that retains components of the artistβs original expression. Itβs all very mystical, fascinating, and puzzling; each piece feels like a brand-new addition. The vocalist has a sweet-toned voice, and the recording quality is excellent. It gives the song an echo-like quality, perfect for late-night contemplation when silence is needed to let your thoughts and feelings weigh in.
The songβs words are figurative. The void chloe feels when summer ends is like the emptiness she experiences when love ends. This section in the middle is all about the βwinterβ that comes after. Since itβs a reflection piece, it manages to straddle the line between the real and the figurative. βShadowsβ is a mystical indie piece, that has elements of downtempo, and lofi written all over. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a gateway to chloeβs world, to enter with ears wide open.
