LTB’s recent single, ‘Skyline,’ brings vulnerability to life through R&B and is perfect for listening to during long midnight drives. The Annapolis-based artist, best known for composing, singing, and producing all his songs, brings forth ‘Skyline’ as a means to cross the boundaries of both the R&B and pop genres. LTB’s smooth vibrato, alongside his deeply soulful lyrics on this track, easily conveys his love of emotionally provocative lyrics, unexpected beats, and jazz influences, especially when the artist looks up to the likes of The Weeknd, James Blake, Joji, Hozier, and Steve Lacy for inspiration.
‘Skyline’ begins with what sounds like a blend of ambient noises and is followed by LTB’s rich, strong voice against a sharp synth. His deep baritone continues to describe some of his most intimate thoughts and emotions until it picks up speed and his voice goes lighter, pronouncing his fragility even more. Afterwards, a new synth and drum beat are introduced, and the verses become faster-paced, alluding to the pop nature of LTB’s tracks. This section is even more distinguishable as the lyrics are recollections of the artist’s memories and moments of and about the main theme of the track—love.
LTB’s resonant vocals and beautiful melody come together to create the modern lovechild of those classic singers from the mid-twentieth century in his latest release, ‘Skyline’.
