Chris Pellnat’s new track can stand to be a modern rock anthem with its catchy choruses and its advocation of the innate need to have fun as, while we may be adults, ‘We Are Not Robots.’ The American singer-songwriter, who is mainly based in Hudson, New York, aims this single at every single working adult as a reminder to break the monotony of their lives. One cannot be serious all the time, and the track’s use of retro sci-fi organ flourishes and big, fun singalong choruses reiterate this message perfectly.
The intro contains a guitar riff, which is immediately accompanied by drums and Chris singing the refrain. His raw, raspy voice describes his need to still have his childlike wonder in this 3-minute, 12-second track. The instrumentals keep driving us further down the song with their infectious energy, and the captivating lyrics make it all the more memorable. The music video is also of note, with it being created in “robot worlds” in the VR platform, VRChat, as it brings that extra spunk needed to drive the core message home.
Chris Pellnat, the guitarist of Foxcutter and half of the duo, Teeniest, has quite finely honed his skills in approaching serious matters with the imagination and creativity of a child, as is evident in both the music audio and video of ‘We Are Not Robots.’ The beat and the chorus are both equally unforgettable and manage to stay stuck in the head like a jingle.
