Smoke and Mirrors by Stone Portal: Review
Stone Portal is a hard rock/heavy metal band that truly charges you with the kick you need to run several miles without breaking a sweat. In “Smoke and Mirrors”, there’s a gritty presence that looms, and hearing rock poetry as such come alive is truly a delight. With some sensational vocal performances and face-melting guitar arrangements, the track truly stands out and will make anyone feel empowered.
Stone Portal’s playing style is very precise, and straightforward, and packs a lot of punch. I enjoyed listening to how the distorted guitars along with the rush of the drums make you feel like climbing a mountain and shouting at the skies in excitement. There’s a strong accompaniment of each instrument, and the singers work in synergy with each other and command it at the same time. “Smoke and Mirrors” certainly has a remarkable aura about it, it gives you what you want, and what you need, no BS, just a good solid rock/metal song. Finally, about those guitar solos, those are some of the most divine and outright cleanest solo picking I’ve heard in a while!
Wish to know more? Well, here’s a short glimpse of the lyrical diversity of the track –
“Big skies and bigger dreams
I know I’ve got more to give
City lights don’t pull me now
Just these sounds inside
I know I’ve got more to come
Empty road on a desolate plain
Blank canvas for my thoughts to paint gains
Zero contracts or bills for my ego
Smoke and mirrors it was all anyway”
