New York–born, London-based singer-songwriter Lola Consuelos steps into the spotlight with her debut EP Sorry, it’s all about me, a bold, self-aware, diaristic and sharply produced introduction. Having honed her craft at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute and built early momentum with hundreds of thousands of streams on her debut single, Lola now distills years of emotional processing into a tight, personality-driven project.
Things kick off with “Lola,” a statement opener that steadies the momentum with thumping beats and glides with shimmering, graceful melodies like the epitome of elegance and conveys her inner peace and composedness. Over this composed backdrop, Lola sings about broken promises and emotional manipulation, calling out gaslighting without raising her voice. The strength in her calm delivery shows that she’s decided. The refusal to wait becomes the song’s quiet mic-drop moment.
Then comes “Not Like You,” which shifts the mood inward. Cool, hard-hitting beats anchor the track while glossy melodies ripple underneath, giving the song space to breathe. Lola’s vocal turns gentler and more reflective here, untangling the emotional aftermath rather than the confrontation itself. It feels like the late-night overthinking phase after the decision’s already been made, introspective but still grounded.
By the time “Sexier” rolls around, the EP flips its energy on its head. The rhythm section bustles with pop confidence, and Lola leans fully into her sass. Her delivery is playful, sharp, and completely self-aware, landing lines like “You always wanted to be sexier till you found out that he’s texting her” with a smirk you can hear through the speakers. It’s witty, catchy, and knowingly ironic, reclaiming power through attitude.
Across Sorry, it’s all about me, Lola Consuelos balances polish with personality, vulnerability with bite. The EP unfolds like a short emotional arc, from clarity to reflection to empowerment, and it leaves you wanting to replay it just to catch every nuance. It’s self-focused in the best way possible, and that confidence feels like only the beginning.
