Sweet Bird of Freedom by Corbin Dooley: Review
Corbin Dooley’s pop/reggae single entitled “Sweet Bird of Freedom” will make you groove till there’s no tomorrow. Featuring musician Dawn, this funky number is filled with enriching melodies that create a lovely aura. From striking reggae chords to an insanely catchy bassline, and a charming singer at the mic, “Sweet Bird of Freedom” comes to life and cleanses our souls with a beautiful hymn. Aside from this single, the songs “Flowers Candles Weed” and “Catalyst Moment,” are also included!
“Sweet Bird of Freedom” initiates a smooth rhythm section filled with vibing organs and a bassline that starts a wave of dance. Both instruments imbue an infectious cadence and it’s tough not to sway your head to it. Furthermore, the musical format follows a pleasant reggae/ska pattern and it’s an interesting twist over the smooth pop vocals. The second song “Flowers Candles Weed” takes a short detour from the aforementioned genre, and creates a gateway into piano-rock. Aside from that, an intriguing narrative is formed and blends with the piano’s cadence along with a groovy drum beat.
In the song “Catalyst Moment,” we once again return to the roots of reggae, except a folksy twist follows with it. The acoustic guitar’s gentle presence combines with a fat bassline to generate Jamaican island vibes, with a country roads-esque atmosphere. In conclusion, Corbin Dooley’s music is best experienced in times of celebration, ‘cause its positive melodies will definitely uplift your spirits.
