“Sweet Revenge” by Harris Hunter is a stormy, neon-lit thunderclap of a track, bold, immersive, and way too good for someone who’s only twelve years old (like, what were we even doing at twelve?). What’s even more mind-blowing is the fact that this whole track—writing, vocals, production—was done by Harris himself, from his home studio in Glasgow. He’s been building beats since he was ten, and it shows. The sequencing is tight, the layering is smart, and the harmonies? Straight-up goosebumps.
The song kicks off with these pounding, pulse-raising beats that instantly grip you by the collar, while ambient synths float like ghostly vapour over the top, setting the mood somewhere between a nightclub and a haunted dream.
And then Harris’ voice glides in, thick, rich, and full of aching passion. It soars, it howls, it aches. The vocals echo from the other side of a smoky rave, or maybe off a mountaintop at midnight. There’s this bittersweet edge to it, like someone rising from heartbreak with fire in their eyes.
Despite the ghostly vibes, “Sweet Revenge” is precision-made pop artillery. The kind of electro-pop that pulls you into a whole mood. You can feel the influence of artists like Charli XCX and Raye in the layered synths and rhythm-forward production, but Harris is clearly not out here copying anyone. His sound is experimental yet polished, soulful yet sharp and there’s the gist of garage, a dash of K-pop sparkle, and a whole lot of personal flair.
Harris Hunter might be young, but “Sweet Revenge” screams confidence, talent, and a future you definitely want to keep your eyes (and ears) on. Check it out on Spotify to support this talented young man.
