The Corduroy Blue by The Corduroy Blue: Album Review
The Corduroy Blue, an Atlanta-based rock band, have just dropped their debut album of the same name. Atticus and Luke Roness, two brothers, are the band’s primary musicians. The music they create has a fantastic blend of pop rock, and natural rock and roll. With each piece having a bright narrative attached to it, it’s tough not to get attached to the infectious melodies of The Corduroy Blue.
Opening up with a number called “Fight The Tears” was a stellar way to introduce to the audience the diversity of the musicians. Through catchy pop vocal sequences, electrifying guitar notes, and passionate rhythm arrangements, the track is truly a wonderful form of melodic poetry. I especially admire the guitarist’s exuberant presence through playful distortion mechanics. Upon reaching the track “Lonely Mind”, I was blown away by the powerful force of the music. The Corduroy Blue put plenty of emphasis on their riff accompaniment, in this particular track, for instance, it sounds like a senior prom dance just laying out jammin’ guitar bits for the dancefloor.
Getting a glimpse of the artists’ more melancholic side in “Dreams + Nightmares” was a gripping number to hear. Incorporating organs, and some soft percussion bits, the singer truly went all out with their vocal pipes. There’s a hint of pain and emotion in that voice, and that’s what makes the music truly stand out. And that guitar solo! The blues never sounded so swell, and fit beautifully with the song’s mechanics.
