The 1980s are no longer an ancient part of history, it’s here, every day, in the clothes we wear, and the music we hear. This brings us to stylish artist Ryal and their retro-pop EP “The End is Near Here.” It’s a fantastic record filled with a catchy narrative and lovely rhythms drenched in synth. Altogether, the EP is a must-hear for anybody hoping to take a trip back to the golden 80s.
Ryal starts the synthwave storm with the electrifying anthem “Decent People.” It’s a captivating track with a fast-paced cadence and well-written lyrics. The instrumentals are filled with expansive basslines and synthesizers. The tone has this fat and funky aesthetic, and the melody grabs your attention immediately. This is especially the case with synth arpeggios, especially the intro, truly sensational! Next up is “The End,” and what follows is more bass, and amplified pizzazz. The lyrical nature is much more intense and passionate. The singer’s stance puts us in a trance we won’t forget easily.
Furthermore, we arrive at the last song of the EP entitled “It’s a New Thing.” This piece feels right out of a 1983 chart-topper. Suddenly, the magic of this song from the eccentric synths to the psychedelic storytelling takes you back to that eventful summer in Miami. The palm trees, beaches, and the people just let loose and had the time of their lives. With that said, please don’t miss out on Ryal’s stellar EP “The End is Near Here.”
