Grunge and Alt Rock musicians Trapt are back with a new EP, The Fall(Teaser 2). This five-song collection is a punchy reminder of why Trapt became a rock mainstay, showcasing Chris Taylor Brown’s signature raspy vocals and the band’s knack for crafting catchy, hard-hitting tunes.
The Fall(Teaser 2) opens with “Halo,” a song that shimmers its guitar riffs against heavy drums. Brown’s vocals drip with desperate charisma as he pleads for an “angel” and a “halo” to guide him back from his mistakes. It’s a powerful opening track that sets the tone for a journey of self-reflection and redemption.
“Think of You” shifts gears with its subdued melody and reverb-drenched vocals. Brown sings of a love so deep it borders on selflessness. It’s a refreshingly honest take on devotion. This love song is more about dedication than empty sweetness.
The EP closes with “Safe Here in the Shade,” bringing the energy back up with driving guitar melodies and hard-hitting drums. Brown’s voice takes on a sharp, tense edge that doubles on the urgency of escaping chaos. But the imagery of him offering a place of refuge from the world’s chaos is rather giving, generous, and kind of him. The catchy and rhythmic “Hey-hey-hey-hey” refrain against the energetic instrumentals creates a contrasting, relaxing, and soothing feel that might just work wonders during live performances.
“The Fall” is the second strong appetizer for Trapt’s upcoming full-length album. Whether you’re a longtime Trapt fan or discovering their sound, this EP is a must-listen.
Stay tuned for the full album drop this May 31. And catch Trapt on their “Parental Advisory Tour” with Josey Scott (Saliva), Adema, and Tantric!
