Craggy Collyde’s debut full-length album, “The House Next Door,” takes us into the heart of bluesy alternative rock-n-roll music. Punk-tinged and atmospheric, there are 11 tracks to get immersed in. In the British/Slovak band’s lineup, we have Craggy on vocals and guitars, Veronika on drums and vocals, and Tom on bass.
The album starts with “Do You Dream?” immediately setting the tone for what’s to come. Foggy and dreamy, it features driving guitars that create a suspenseful backdrop. Fronting the song is Craggy’s hazy yet evocative youthful voice.
One of the standout tracks is the eponymous “The House Next Door.” This song stands out not only for its musicality but also for its deep narrative. It starts with pattering drums that establish a rhythmic heartbeat. The track builds steadily, creating anticipation and intrigue in the immersive soundscape.
“Where The Hope Lies” is another noteworthy track that showcases the band’s versatility. Opening with those familiar pattering drums, it exudes an upbeat and lighthearted tone accompanied by melodic vocals.
Throughout “The House Next Door,” there’s a sense of cohesiveness in the band’s sound. Roman Kašník, who recorded and produced the album at Reset Studio in Brno, Czech Republic, has captured the essence of Craggy Collyde’s musical vision. Their music blends elements of blues, punk, and alternative rock, resulting in a unique and captivating sonic experience.
The narrative continues with every listen, rewarding fans of the genre with relaxing anticipation. And so “The House Next Door” is a telling sign Craggy Collyde has more spice in store for our ears.
