The Worriers by The Mars McClanes: Review
The Mars MacClanes are returning from a hiatus telling a cautionary tale for the over cautious people in their new single The Worriers.
The Alt-Indie band treads into more funk rock-y territory as they make their comeback after almost two decades. The song was mostly inspired by elderly people regretting over the chances in life they have not taken and thus missing out on what could’ve been because they were too cautious. Had they only worried a little less and taken the risk, the reward they could have reaped would be sweeter than anything else.
The band approaches this theme with a funky groove that takes one back to the old days but the melody keeps them grounded to this modern day. The arrangement of the vocal parts sings an anthem to the over-thinkers in such a compelling way it feels like it’s treading on the thin line of mocking and warning them. The funky grooves that break adds dramatic value to the message. It’s funky, it’s thoughtful, it’s fun to listen to and vibe along.
Quotable Lyrics:
The Worriers try to live longer
So they don’t live big
So dead set against getting hurt
They never feel much anything
Worriers play life safer
But life, it doesn’t play safe
So you pass them pushing up flowers
Every day
