Tommy All Along’s debut EP, “Things I Wanna Do,” is a heartfelt journey that was born from the chaos and uncertainty of the pandemic. As the world grappled with isolation and fear, Tommy, or rather, the multi-talented Ramon Angelo Santiago, found solace in the embrace of his guitar and synthesizers
Influenced by the enchanting sounds of indie rock acts like Beach Fossils, Real Estate, and Turnover, Ramon channeled his emotions into crafting five tracks that bear the weight of his experiences. Each note, each lyric is a window into his soul, a testament to the highs and lows of his life abroad.
The EP’s title track, “Things I Wanna Do,” serves as a poignant declaration of Ramon’s desires and the reasons fueling them. “Roxy,” sung in his native Tagalog language, is an intimate portrayal of asking a friend to accompany him on a journey to collect something of great importance.
“Here” delves into the complexities of fulfilling one’s desires, unafraid of the consequences that may follow. It’s a song that encapsulates the spirit of chasing one’s dreams with unwavering determination. On the other hand, “Losing Streak” reveals Ramon’s humorous side as he vents his frustration with online games, candidly admitting that he’s not exactly a gaming prodigy.
“Canyon Cove” is a sun-soaked ode to a beach trip with his closest companions, capturing the nostalgia and warmth of cherished moments.
In the end, Ramon discovered that what he thought he had left behind in the Philippines had been within him all along. “Things I Wanna Do” is a musical journey of self-discovery and resilience, a testament to the power of following your heart, no matter where life takes you.
