Buckle up and take a ride down This Long Road with Deully aka Darren Sawrenko and his addiction recovery, as he pours his heart and soul into every track of his latest album.
From the get-go, ‘One Step Behind’ sets the tone with shredding riffs and energized vocals that catch fire and blaze through your speakers. ‘Untitled’ brings a bluesy edge to the rock, with soulful vocals dripping with emotion as Deully submits to the pain in his heart. You can feel the anguish in every note as he sings of falling apart and searching for solace in a world of broken hearts.
But it’s not all darkness and despair on ‘This Long Road.’ Sawrenko brings the metal to the momentum with ‘This Could Be a Good Life’ as he sings about his love interest making him want to live better. With the mellower and bittersweet song, ‘Tonight I Say Goodbye’ he offers glimmers of hope and redemption, and shimmering piano leading to the anguished guitar.
And just when you think you’ve reached the end of the road, ‘Running On Empty’ kicks into high gear with raging guitars and thumping drums. Deully’s voice stretches over the instrumentals like a siren, trying to find the light at the end of the tunnel as he sings of his struggles and the constant battle to carry on.
Released on April 12, this album has Deully keeping us on our toes in his melting pot of genres. But he lets loose his heart and relates to those of us still trying to find our way out of This Long Road.
