Time To Reflect by Sleeping Together: Review
The up-and-coming UK indie-pop band Sleeping Together is back with its third song, โTime To Reflectโ. The complexities of love are examined in โTime To Reflectโ, a song inspired by the experience of being a young adult in todayโs culture. Although the Beatles sang that โlove is all you need,โ Sleeping Together takes a different view. Alexander Lloyd-Jones, the bandโs frontman, tells us that โlove is not what I needโ before recounting a relationship from his past that almost caused him to give up his autonomy.
The songโs thoughtful lyrics examine the experiences that lead us to fall in love for the first time and the accompanying loss of self-reliance that accompanies it. Losing oneself in a relationship and the great value of hindsight are themes explored in โTime to Reflectโ. If you can hang on to the essentials of who you are, falling in love doesnโt have to be as horrible as itโs made out to be. In โTime to Reflectโ, Sleeping Together embraces an indie rock style.
It has elements of modern indie rock, but it also leans heavily on 90s-style pop-rock and pop-punk. There are hints of McFly and Scouting for Girls in Sleeping Togetherโs sound; yet, the bandโs audacious โrock-nessโ gives them a heavier, tougher, and modern edge. To hear โSleeping Togetherโ is to hear a ball formed from the sounds of those legendary pop-rock bands, then slathered in a tune that is wholly their own. Be sure to try it out.
