GAYLE released her long-awaited EP on Friday, and to commemorate the occasion, she released a brand-new music video for the song “love starving.”
The visualizer takes a floral motif as GAYLE roams around a green mansion and plays a piano draped in flowers at an empty theater in the song, which is the first tune off her new studio effort.
The young musician admits in the single that she doesn’t know how to react when she’s shown affection, and that her old coping technique of pushing people away to escape those perplexing emotions is starting to fail her because she’s becoming too lonely.
“Do I really care about the fact that you’re here?/ GAYLE sings, “The potential of the latter has me pulling my hair out/ I’m a skeleton of the love I once had/ Yeah, it was so horrible, but you’re nothing like that, yeah.”
GAYLE’s six-track a study of the human experience volume one EP includes “love starving,” “sleeping with my buddies,” “ur just horny,” and “e-z,” among other tracks.
The 17-year-old singer told ABC Audio that she isn’t singing about controversial things for the sake of it; that’s just what Gen-Z does. “We can say more outrageous things just to attract people’s attention,” she explained, “which appears so surprising and brave to people.”
