Update by Niky Pasolini: Album review
‘Update’, a nine-track album by London-based singer/songwriter Niky Pasolini. came out on January 20th. The album is soothing to the ears with each song sounding quite heavenly. You can hear the banjo, piano, violin, and guitar throughout ‘Update’, lending a lighthearted and catchy indie pop sound to the album as a whole. Additionally, the artist spent most of her childhood learning to play the piano, cello, and guitar; it’s fantastic to hear the echoes of her early musical training throughout the album.
The opening song of the album, ‘My Turn’ is a pop song about a potential romantic partner. We have all been in situations when we have had our eye on someone but have been too timid to approach them. The song’s title is the performer’s method of expressing her belief that the time has come for her to make clear her desire for the aforementioned individual to remain a part of her life. Pasolini’s emotional delivery can be heard out loud in ‘Somebody Else’, a heartfelt ballad about being unhappy in a relationship and missing former partners, while ‘The City’, a mellow pop track about becoming disoriented in the city’s hectic, mundane routines, features passionate lyrics and beautiful singing. ‘Asked You,’ a lighthearted and personal pop ballad with a catchy chorus that will have listeners tapping their feet, is one of the album’s highlights. The album ends with ‘Mirror’ a heartfelt romantic song with touchy lyrics.
Overall, ‘Update’ is a great album to add to your playlist if you are in the mood for some exciting and expressive Indie Pop music.
