Varied Thrush by Sparkbird: Review
Sparkbird’s “Varied Thrush” is a charming indie tune guaranteed to resonate with the masses. Following the tropes of minimal music, the artist’s melodic style accompanies just the right amount of instrumentation and singing without overwhelming the listener. In that aspect, I thoroughly suggest this song to anyone who enjoys indie pop in all its glory.
The melody of Sparkbird’s “Varied Thrush” is a blend of colorful poetry and quirky rhythm pieces. The latter bit employs a subtle piano, playful drumming, cello sections, a vibing bassist, and a dynamic vocalist at the helm. Together they form an interesting indie-pop sensation that is tough to ignore. Especially in terms of forming a catchy hook! This is evidently portrayed when the singer’s ode aligns with the tempo of the track. Also, the piano’s striking rhythm has a nice ring to it. Furthermore, Varied Thrush’s vibrant music video gave a fascinating hipster vibe. This is where the song’s essence is represented, and the final result feels quite polished to hear.
“Varied Thrush” allows the listener to hear each section with clarity and appreciation. This is related to my earlier comment on Sparkbird’s music having ties with minimalism. Folks, this subject matter has been trending as of late, and I’ve taken quite an interest in it. From lifestyle hacks such as decluttering to minimalist music pertaining to LoFi, the entirety of this topic clicked with me. Even more so, now that the movement has inspired indie artists.
