Waitin’ On a Train by Geoff Gibbons: Review
If you want to listen to something that will tug on your heartstrings and make you adore the perfect melody, then please listen to ‘Waitin’ On a Train’ by Geoff Gibbons! Gibbons is a veteran composer, guitarist, producer, and engineer from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He has played alongside Emmylou Harris, David Crosby, T-Bone Burnette, Levon Helm, and Rick Danko, and he has written songs and music for tv, animation, motion pictures, and a lot more besides his band.
Country-style acoustic guitar, and the type of sound that sounds effortlessly smooth. ‘Waitin’ On a Train’ has a warm intro indeed. The singer’s voice resonates like a golden country singer. This is one of the best songs to put on your road trip playlist, I tell you! I appreciate the lyrics and the arrangement, ‘cause it’s simple and wholesome. The guitar fillers and chord structure were very beautiful. The transitions are quite wonderful to hear and add a colorful impact to listeners. Almost at the end of the song, the song slows down, and oh wow it’s quite breathtaking, easily my favorite part. I love dramatic pieces in songs like this. There are some piano parts although they are minimal. But it sounds swell.
The song feels like one of those hidden odes to one’s journey in life. At least that’s how it made me feel, and songs such as ‘Waitin’ On a Train’ will indeed have that effect on someone.
