New Parade by Kingstarlight: Review
The surrealism behind Kingstarlight’s original release “New Parade” is a groovy experience with its brilliant vocalization and amazing synth wave work. When I came across the track on SoundCloud, I could not believe that the artist crafted this imaginative piece in just 2 minutes and 21 seconds. Now I am so hooked, I absolutely need an hour version it! And until Julian Bell, writer, singer and talented guitarist behind this project, does the honors, I will stick to playing this sonic euphoria in an infinite loop.
From the very first listen, I could tell that this was not going to be one of those songs that you listen to 86 times until it becomes a bore to the ears. It was also a shocker how reminiscent Bell’s voice is to that of Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino. Come to find, he is one of the inspirations besides Prince and Lenny Kravitz for Kingstarlight. Producing the song in his own studio, Bell mixed rock tunes with programed drums and synthesizers. Another thing that shocked me to my core is how incredibly underrated “New Parade” is! This is not just due to its hypnotic melody, but the lyrical imagination is straight up modern poetry that makes you want to watch the stars under the night sky. Which is why, you could also call this a night drive-worthy track.
I cannot imagine my current playlist without ”New Parade”. Let this also be the beginning for you to the magical world of Kingstarlight.
