What We Had by Kelsie Kimberlin: Review
Based in Washington DC, the Ukrainian-American pop artist Kelsie Kimberlin graces all leading music platforms with a moving new title “What We Had” and I just can’t get enough of it!
“What We Had” is about having the guts to say “this is what it takes” and then really doing it. It’s about realizing one’s self-worth, and the track delivers an inspiring message about never giving in or giving up just because there are obstacles when you want to pursue the kind of relationship you desire. The lyrics also advise, befitting for anyone in general, about knowing when to walk away. I think it’s always important to put yourself first, and Kelsie has the caliber of an artist to portray multiple meanings behind her music – something that always impresses me, which is why this song particularly intrigued me.
You can also check out her music video, as it perfectly aligns with the mood of the song. You can see Kimberlin speaking to herself from the future, sitting in a dark room of jumbled-up furniture pieces, and then the whole thing ends with the beginning of a blank slate in mind. It’s a wonderful metaphor, and I think paints the perfect picture for anyone who wants to build a deeper connection to the song.
