WIT by Comdaport: Review
Comdaport is an electronic, ambient, and electro dance music producer based in Bergen. Electronic sounds and nature inspire him. Comdaport’s works include natural sounds, but they are mainly background elements. WIT is about the untaken path. It’s like the view from a train when you don’t know where or when it will arrive but know that everything will become clear very soon.
WIT, Comdaport’s most recent track, is a perfect representation of his ambient and uptempo approach. It isn’t really hard to see Comdaport put a lot of thought and effort into this tune. The speed is constant, there are no distracting components, and the overall feeling is one of serene excitement. Some upbeat melodies, but overall relaxed. Bright synth chord progressions ring over the fast beats and a tastefully thick bassline.
Combined with the captivating fleeting melodies, this piece’s unusual mix of sampled field recordings creates a surreal soundscape enthralling the listener. Mixing field recordings with electronic music is nothing new but it’s very easy to make the recording sound out of place. But Comdaport’s incredible mix of these numerous components works so well together that it all sounds so natural.
“WIT” packs a lot of thoughts, emotion, and a remarkable musical composition. The whole thing flows smoothly through its brief running time. This song provides an easy-listening experience for everyone regardless of their musical preferences.
