.b. u. d. by Crystal Box: Review
Bodhi Landa, a composer and producer residing in New Orleans, records as Crystal Box. Landa’s tracks feature spacious ambient passages, distorted vocals, electronic beats, and joyful synth waves, and they are influenced by minimalistic club sounds, experimental R&B, and hyper pop.
Crystal Box’s track ‘.b. u. d. ‘ is like fireworks being set on New Year’s Day. It’s fresh, it’s new, it’s an absolute cracker. Starting from the ambient sounds to the perfect synchronization of the beats, Bodhi’s atmospheric vocals, constitute a worthy number. The entire song is quite a trip, and I truly enjoyed the ethereal aspects of it. The entirety of the song is heavily focused on reverb. It’s just the right amount, and not overdoing it. When I heard the keyboard and synthesizer arrangements on ‘.b. u. d. ‘ it made me feel at peace. Here I am analyzing a near-perfect song at the office, it’s warm and sunshine seeps through my window. As the light reflects on my skin, Crystal Box’s rhythm is able to fit right into the soundtrack of my day.
The elements of R&B are as clear as day. It’s apparent in the vocal’s cadence, as there is a strong influence on sway and a catchy tune. If I had to describe ‘.b. u. d. ‘ in a few words, it would be “A melodic escape into the cosmos”. The song is absolutely clean, with rich Pop aspects, and it has been absolutely rejoicing to hear.
