Cabbagetown Mystery released breathtaking song ‘Wendy’s Song (Fairy Tales Soaked in Pale Ale)’
Their debut album is called ‘Choose to Believe’. It has a number of recurring themes, including the anger of the men, American politics (Election 2016, Election 2020), and the general rise of authoritarianism (‘Trust Busters’, ‘Choose to Believe’). They also reflected on parenthood as the years went by (‘Come Into Your Own and Once in a While’), and some of the songs are just poetry or for entertainment purposes. There is their love of melody and lyricism throughout everything. Although Led Zeppelin occasionally makes an appearance, Cabbagetown Mystery’s music is unmistakably rooted in the North American folk tradition, with echoes of Neil Young, Paul Simon, and Leonard Cohen. However, the guys’ harmonies and modern sensibility are always audible.
A woman who’s had enough is the subject of the single ‘Wendy’s Song: Fairy Tales Soaked in Pale Ale’.
