Chloé Sautereau shows us how deep, unrequited love can be with a renewed and refreshed take right as the year closes in ’cause we can’t wait til January. Her latest single, “Catch My Fall Again,” released on Dec 8, arrives just in time to offer a bittersweet reflection with a stripped-back acoustic guitar ballad.
With the guitar riffing to serve that perfectly contemplative backdrop to Chloé’s diaristic storytelling, we have her intimate tone. Centered on heartfelt philosophical lyricism, one of the standout lines, “What a thing to be in love trying not to be,” caught my eye—or ear. It encapsulates the desire never to want to be the only one in love, yet ironically, we are sometimes. Chloé’s voice, tinged with vulnerability and softness, becomes the vessel through which the listener navigates the depths of this experience.
The narrative of “Catch My Fall Again” revolves around the realization that falling deeply for someone is not always an easy path to navigate, especially when met with uncertainty and silence from the other person. Chloé shares that this song came to be the result of the silenced weight of angsty, unspoken feelings.
The song is about accepting and understanding one’s feelings. After you have survived through moments captured in “Catch My Fall Again,” you respect the memories you have made along the way.
Kudos to Chloé for writing, recording, and producing the song herself. Ben Gordon provided the bass. Wrapping up, Harry Burr mixed and mastered the record.
