As “Confessions by Candlelight” rolls out, you can hear Taylor Swift’s rhythm in Tasha Blackmore’s voice. Taylor Swift’s legacy lives on in her. Other than Swift, Aaron Lewis, Rascal Flatts, Tim McGraw, Carly Rae Jepson, and others are allusive in her music. The Nashville singer combines pop with country in a mellow, dulcet tone.
Tasha sings, “See your face/It comes back/All the feelings I thought were in the past” in the first verse with a low timbre and a slow tempo, allowing the emotions to slowly seep in before she seamlessly floats to the chorus, “You’re the one/I see in my dreams.” You can feel her vocals thickening in this part which emphasizes her emotions.
Tasha has a diaristic lyricism ongoing besides the soft acoustic guitar chords playing, as she recalls “driving home” and missing him. It’s all very descriptive. With Taylor Swift as her inspiration, she’s got a good start ahead with her lyricism. On the other hand, the drums are casually beating underneath the guitar, hence raising the momentum and giving her the get-go.
“Confessions by Candlelight” has that tranquil feel about it that makes it so easy to listen to. Having already featured on BBC Introducing in the North East for previous singles, Tasha definitely knows how to give a good performance—so good it’s worth remembering.
The country-pop ballad “Confessions by Candlelight” will hit close to home for lovers who have returned to each other. Nonetheless, if you love soothing acoustic music, check out Tasha Blackmore’s “Confessions by Candlelight”.
