Dead Wood by 1st Base Runner: Review
Feel the soft pitter patter of rain and relish the smell of petrichor as your stereo blasts to the efficacies of Dead Wood.
As dark as its inspiration may be, it is an evergreen EP by 1st Base Runner. If you have listened to his latest, “Light Roars”, this one will pull you in almost instantly. Tim Husmann’s breathy vocals gives this alternative vision an array of grey, nocturnal emotions. A wonderful blend of different genres that may suffice the ears of mysticism. It is a treat to Arctic Moneys listeners on the lookout for indie music that is out to pursue heavy style. Raw, post-punk yet relatable as one might imagine. So, if you are anything between edgy and gothic, Dead Wood quickly becomes an earworm with its analog illustration that carries on almost until the end.
The man behind 1st Base Runner is a multi-talented man, a master at drums and guitars, to say the least. His dark taste dips into the 1980s, tied with modern synth and post-rock elements. When he’s not working on indie tunes, Husmann explores classical chords on his piano and shares odysseys of his new inventions over live drums. So what is the post-rock one-man army 1st Base Runner up to these days? He’s a man on a hunt with an excuse to collaborate with creative talents from Austin to Los Angeles, playing his latest singles including Dead Wood.
