Alone by The GOAT ft. Melohalo: Review
Chris Marcinikiewicz who goes by the musical alias ‘The GOAT’ has released his latest album ‘The Details Are Vague’ this June via Groundwerk Recordings. The album is a masterpiece full of original electronic and techno mixes and ‘Alone’ featuring Melohalo (Amanda) is one of the best ones. The songs in the album are a product of an emotionally taxing last few years for Chris. The real unease and emotions that are the driving force behind these compositions are prevalent in all of the tracks.
‘Alone’ is the sixth track of the album. It is a merger of two flows that so far removed yet put together in a masterful manner. The opening beats sound like an upbeat techno introduction which soon takes meaning once the heavy synth and keys arrive. Amanda’s pain-ridden, heart-touching voice works like a metronome around which the beats do their magic and take various forms. The singing may sound like a slow ballad but the beats and synths behind create an ‘Interstellar’ type atmosphere, as if everything is falling apart. If you listen closely, it is like two branches of the river put together masterfully by The GOAT to build a tension as if to denote the multitude of tension we experience simultaneously as human beings. The fact that these songs are an attempt to capture real unpleasant feelings in a bubble space of musical excellence is a marker of outstanding songwriting abilities of Chris. Amanda (Melohalo) also deserves a lot of appreciation for creating a contrast with her vocals and conveying real emotion.
The song is full of meanings, it is up to the listeners how they relate it to real-world happenings. Once you relate, you will play this on repeat.
