Not much happens in east middle earth. The hobbits slumber and the dwarves shy away in their caverns, once a year the greatest rock festival unfolds. Where the east meets the west where once the monsters of rock were plugged in are now digital and downloaded.
For more than 15 years Eddie had been visiting his local Rock Festival, collecting ideas and gaining a specific affinity for the distorted sound waves of rock. Unbeknownst to him, his future wife and band founder Char would be attending Download Festival every year he had.
Taking influence from Led Zeppelin and Fleetwood Mac we reinvent the classic genre with our potent stage production, oozing sexual chemistry between lead singers Char & Eddie and electrically charged band. Together since 2018, in Derby, UK, the band rleased their debut album in June 2021. Eddie & The Wolves has had a tremendous prior 2 years with the band supporting the likes of Reef, Blackwater Conspiracy, Doctor & The Medics, and Arielle. Along with Touring the UK with Alexa De Strange and playing to great crowds at Moto GP and Formula 1 โ Silverstone, and Donington Park for their big track events. The Band have achieved success at a variety of festivals like Y-Not, The Eyes Have It Fest, September Fest, Ey Up Mi Duck, Music In the Park and many more. Check out their single โBad Touchโ and the exclusive interview with Eddie and Char below:

1.ย Can you tell us a bit aboutย where youย comeย fromย and howย it allย got started?ย
EDDIE: The band started as my solo project, but quickly evolved into a collaboration. Char (my wife) joined us and we started writing together and realised we were super musically compatible.ย
Char: And it just sort of steam rolled from there and very quickly turned into a solid product that people wanted to listen to!ย
2.ย Did youย have any formal training or are you self-taught?
EDDIE: Weโve both done a few music lessons when we were younger, but nothing more than grade one on your usual suspects.ย
CHAR: We have both always had access to instruments as our families are musical, so i think through the years we both just sat down and noodled our way through!ย
3.ย who were your first and strongest musical influencesย and why the nameโeddie & the wolvesโ?ย
EDDIE: Iโve always listened to metallica and biffy clyro, but my music genre taste is pretty broad.ย
CHAR: Yeah, i think its just been an amalgamation of bands my parents listened to. Like black sabbath, rush, white-snake etc. ย we both listen to new music all the time so our influences constantly change, thats why all our songs are so different.ย
EDDIE: And the name came from obviously well, my name, and then โ& the wolvesโ came to me when i wanted it to feel like a family, and โthe wolf packโ just felt right!ย
CHAR: Now we have fans that are called โthe wolf packโ is just one big howling family!ย
4. What do you feelย are the key elements in your music that should resonate with listeners, and how would you personally describe your sound?ย
CHAR: I tend to write most of the lyrics and eddie takes on the music mostly, thats how we have always written. And we write things we know about.ย
EDDIE: Like heartbreak, whiskeyโฆ women.ย
CHAR: Yep, we know a lot about women. ย
Eddie: And we would describe our sound exactly like women. Soft, warm, then it grabs you throat and tells you to get on your knees.ย

5.ย for most artists, originality is first preceded by a phase of learning and, often, emulating others. What was this like for you? How would you describe your own development as an artist and music maker, and the transition towards your own style, which is known asย rock?
EDDIE: Iโm a producer by trade and have worked in music production for a fairly long time. We record all of our own stuff so we are able to translate what we have in our heads easily. This really helps when honing our own sound.ย
CHAR: We listen to tonnes of music and are constantly trying to learn and evolve. We definitely have got our own sound now, mixing blues and rock and some crazy breakdowns. Our stage show is an important part of our band, and we pride ourselves on putting on a show, everytime!ย
6.ย Whatโs your view on the role and function of music as political, cultural, spiritual,ย and/or social vehicles โ and do you try and affront any of these themes in your work, or are you purely interested in music as an expression of technical artistry, personal narrative, and entertainment?
EDDIE: Our music is very personal to us. We only sing about things we knowย
CHAR: And things we have felt. Its cliche but all of our songs are from the soul, and real things we have felt! Thats why we enjoy the band so much for what it is. Its like our own personal diary.ย
7.ย Do you feel that your music is giving you back just as muchย fulfillmentย as the amount of work you are putting into it or are you expecting something more, or differentย in the future?
EDDIE: we love this band so much, and every aspect of it we love. It started off as a passion project and a place we could get everything off our chest. The way it has grown is always more than we expected
CHAR: Yes we put a lot of work into it, but it also grows on its own. People find us and tell us our music touches them, far beyond where we could have imagined.
8.ย Could you describe your creative processes? How doย usuallyย start, and go about shaping ideas into a completed song?ย Do you usually start with a tune,ย a beat,ย or a narrativeย in your head?ย And do you collaborate with others in this process?
EDDIE: So we are married and live together (me and char), and our fully stocked recording studio is in our house. Sometimes we will be watching something at night and Iโll be twiddling on the guitar on the sofa and char will sing along and we will look at each other like โthis is something.โย
CHAR: Then we jump up and just record it. Weโre both very passionate people so we have no qualms in running with a project full pelt. We struggle to sit at the desk and write if we arenโt in the head space, it nearly always comes from a place of โwe need to record this idea right now.โ
9.ย What has been the most difficult thing youโve had to endure in yourย life orย music careerย so far?
EDDIE: Trying to figure out how to get to the people who would want to hear us. We spent a lot of time wondering how to push forward.
CHAR: Its like a minefield, and a lot of bands have this idea that its a race of who can โget there firstโ when in fact, we are all for supporting and building up everyone around us. We love the community vibe of music. Its just a struggle to understand who genuinely supports you and who wants to see you fail.
10.ย On the contrary, what would you consider a successful, proud or significant point in yourย life orย music career so far?
EDDIE: When people message to say they have seen us for the first time and theyre hooked. Thats special to us.
CHAR: Just recently weve got to a point now where we go to a city far away and theres people singing our songs. Like, seeing someone touched by our music enough that they have listened enough to know the words. Thats mine blowing as a musician.
