Fantasy by Kelley Cole: Review
Kelley Cole serves an unapologetic bash to all the unworthy men that cross her life in her latest manifesto “Fantasy”. 4th wave feminism comes in and this is the time for women to stand up for themselves, for the sake of their own and their allies likewise. Women around the world have been caught up in non-contributing relationships and experienced harassment, and a track like Kelley’s is just on time. Being fearlessly herself and fearlessly vocal, Kelley states, “You could never be my fantasy”, never be at her standard, so long.
Quotable lyrics:
“Text me late night A drunken battle-cry I leave it on read
I’m busy, focused writing all my own scripts, better then back then
I’m free of all the toxic roulette
I’m free of all the traps that you set
So say what you want, do what you want I’m not lookin no-no”
Her in-depth description of the types of men she would love to avoid is so explicit: privileged, controlling, lazy, and manipulative men. All women devour happiness, and Kelley is no exception. Her anger is expressed thoroughly in the track, leaving a bittersweet taste to the catchy pop melody that stays in our heads for days. Female empowerment has never been this prevalent.
“Fantasy” by Kelley Cole is available for streaming on different platforms including Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube.
