Fierce by Lissy Taylor: Review

Lissy Taylor began her career as a songwriter and performer in the United States after moving there in 2015 from her hometown of Stoke-On-Trent. She headed back to Manchester, United Kingdom, in 2017 to begin studies in Songwriting at the British and Irish Modern Music Institute (BIMM). This is where quite remarkably she graduated with a first-class honors degree in the year 2020. Lissy’s track “Fierce” is an indie love letter filled with the sparkle of gripping melodies. I believe the sound of her voice will truly enchant anyone hearing it, for it is true on my end for sure.

Lissy announces her arrival on the scene with a sweet and serene voice. The guitar sequences are filled with a lot of gain, and it sounds like one of those tracks that awaken the youth in one’s spirit. I must say, the song structure is quite beautiful. This is because the drum work really drives the energy of the song. The essence is strong in this tune, and after the melody stops it’s almost like coming back down to reality after witnessing a wholesome melody.

The rhythm of the track is astounding. I would like to applaud how well Lissy’s singing graced the track because her tone connected quite spectacularly with each guitar arrangement. Whether a slow part came on, or an upbeat one filled with riffs, Lissy’s ode and pitch perfectly matched the mood of the track. All in all, the song gives you a feeling of ascension and is one of those tracks that you can’t help but be fully immersed in.
