Following the genres of R&B and electro-pop, Mary In The Mirror released her latest fifth single “Fire Lighter,” in 2022. Mary in the Mirror with her newest song has completely broken through the competition by fusing together a wide variety of musical styles to produce something that is not only remarkable but also sounds incredibly original.
The track “Fire Lighter” begins with an electronic sound of programmed drums and synth, followed by a hypnotic vocal and a groovy hard bass line. It has a vibe of hip-hop, pop, R&B, and more; it is a mixture of various genres, which the band mixed very well. It is like the mixture of different genres is complementing each other on its own. The singer describes the track as a love song when she says in the lyrics, “Feel like I follow you around and you don’t know – feel like I follow you around like you want love… “ to want someone who is aware of your existence while still clinging to the hope that they could be interested in a romantic relationship with you is a bit hopeless. The rap verse from Sirreal completes the song.
This mixture of genres in this song is a genius move, especially when it is blended so well that they complement each other. And the vocal quality is very impressive, full of life, and powerful. Listeners will be able to relate to this track, which is also very enjoyable to listen to.
