Break free from the ordinary with ZACKLFO’s latest album, FREE:DOM. This nine-track collection raves through a multitude of genres, all united by a central theme: liberation.
Inspired by the imbalance of freedom in our world, ZACKLFO is a trio of Bunbun (MC/producer), Noelu (bass), and S.H.U (guitar).
If you’re a fan of The Prodigy’s genre-bending electronica, then you’re in for a treat. FREE:DOM throws happy hardcore, psytrance, big beat, Afrobeat and more into a blender, hitting the pulse button and letting the sonic chaos rip.
“PUPPET” opens FREE:DOM with an unease. A shimmering, clinking current evokes the image of a pendulum of a grandfather clock swinging back and forth, while a ticking sound ensues. To complete the imagery, heavy, ominous knells fill the air every once in a while as if the clock struck a new hour, taking us further into an alternate timescape. To top it off, we hear children’s laughter to portray that’s where freedom ended.
Moving on, “GOD KILLER” electrifies with a punchy, warm beat. Sparks start to go off in a frenzy as the song builds, layering heavy beats with a variety of electronic flourishes all sequenced tightly. They come together to form a dynamic concoction. On the other hand, “Beat1:Dimensions” has a sharp, clinking beat cutting through a hazy atmosphere. Tricks hit up on the way to keep things get less predictable.
ZACKLFO culminates FREE:DOM with “recording tape:10/24 – Bonus” which opens with a lazy, bluesy melody washing over recurring ticking hits like raindrops pattering. Halfway through, the music takes a left turn with melodic guitars, punctuated by sharp cymbal crashes.
