Friday Night Rockstar by Lewca: Review
Looking to add a robust rock and psychedelic hyper track to your playlist? Brixton-born musician Lewca’s “Friday Night Rockstar” is the perfect unconventional song to get lost in its incredible beat and mix by Paris-based DJ S.O.A.P. The track was released on a crisp autumn Friday, September 23rd, and is an intertwined web of punk delirium influenced by much of the 80s and 90s tunes. Drawing such inspirations, but adding their own unique twist, Lewca and S.O.A.P made it into a charismatic listen with an alluring guitar line, RnB vocals, and a sensational range of instrumental work.
It’s an upbeat alternative song that promises to give you a jolt of energy to carry you through the remainder of the day. The song narrates the story of a man subdued and in a trance, facing the lows of life. Contrary to that, the beat keeps it catchy, and the perfect play for a Friday night rock club playlist. Lewca’s strong performance in the track along with the self-titled album’s many others has gained it high praise from critics and fans alike. Overall the album is a well-executed project, with many remarkable compositions that will draw you into its tornado of genres over live percussions, including the enduring hard-core French punk. If you can’t tell, there are obvious inspirations drawn from bands like Mano Negra, Les Berruriers Noirs, Les Wampas, and Ludvig Von 88 which spark within the vivacious sounds. If you’re a rebel yourself and are into unconventional music, Lewca’s album will deliver!
