Fucked Up World by Ben Konarov featuring Lukky: Review
Ben Konarov is a lyricist first and foremost, with nearly two decades of writing experience. It goes without saying that to truly experience his magic with his songs, you would want to take your time listening to them. The Australian musician has only lately started publishing his work, with the first track “If Only” in April and the most recent single, “Fucked Up World.”
Quotable lyrics:
“Governments doing as they please
Forcing the poor to beg on their knees
More people alone, more people afraid
More adults who aren’t well behaved
Judges passing sentences that ain’t fair
Lawyers showing they don’t really care”
It’s amazing how statements he penned years ago still ring true now. It does not appear that the problematic society we are currently living in and will leave behind for our future generations will change on its own. We must be the change, even if we have no say in the matter. This song is a call to action, or a “protest song”, as the songwriter of the song referred to it. From start to finish, it’s addictive and full of fist-pumping energy. The beat is a playful foundation composed of groovy bass, rolls of drums, electric guitars, and the occasional tambourine. The Songbayteam band and producer-composer Gary Cubberley have done a great job of recreating the sounds of 1970s rock. The soundscape is completed by the velvety vocals of Lukky, which seamlessly integrate into the whole composition.
“Fucked Up World” is now available on all major streaming platforms.
