Rather be Me by Jake Aldridge: Review
Jacob Aldridge’s latest mid-August release Rather Be Me is an honest attempt at self-expression with an off-beat tune in his charming English accent. With all the raising our self-esteem and choosing self-love before loving someone else floating on the Internet, this song is a change of pace for the fatigued soldier.
It’s a self-acceptance mantra to pull you right out of your self-doubt and insecurities. Before you sulk more and give into the pressure of pretentious Insta gurus who cling on desperately to sound relatable as they sip on their matcha tea and voice out self-centered affirmations in a monotone at 5 in the morning, give this 3 minute and 44 seconds of heaven a chance to change your perspectives about life. Why be a people pleaser when you can reach into the little child within you whose dreams dimmed down with the burden of life?
Aldridge asks questions that hits all the right spots and delivers his speech that depicts white doves flapping their wings at the first taste of eternal freedom.
Aldridge is an intriguing rapper who found his way to music that changed him for the better. Losing his father at a very young age to an unfortunate accident had set the sands of time. And it was up to Jake to turn his life around and draw inspiration from his own life. He’s an excellent outspoken man who turns real issues into poetry turned into enchanting strums over pop-country compositions and a unique vocal range. Rather Be Me truly hits home, once you give this a listen and realize that you don’t have to fake it ‘til you make it.
