Get Myself Out is about addressing the stubborn part of yourself that has caused you to get stuck in a wreck. But don’t worry, the Toronto-based trio isn’t trying to guilt trip you into getting out of it. There’s a burst of positivity in the overall composition.
The upbeat vibe in it makes me feel nostalgic somehow, and takes me back to the the EDM-based and layered and catchy chorus verses produced by none other than Avicii from the good old days – RIP, my man.
On the contrary, the backdrop in the chorus is quite different than anything you might have heard before, and I say this with full confidence! It evokes pure, unmitigated joy for me.
Coming to the lyrics, it speaks out loud to me with its thought-provoking words. If you were to ask me to quote my favorite part, I honestly couldn’t! From the first second to the very last, it’s a well-written piece of work. But I’ll still give you a glimpse of the chorus –
“I woke up tired of myself/ I woke up tired of this hell
I don’t know why I’m still in bed/ I don’t know why I’m in my head
I put myself in a drown/ Only I can get myself out“
Okay, I actually felt like I’m being called out! How many of us are responsible for putting ourselves in a rut? Pair this with a catchy beat and melody, and you get this magical release Get Myself Out which is why I think the brothers have been gaining global reach!
