Go Kart by Kahnin: Review
The Icelandic genre-blending artist Kahnin’s latest single ‘Go Kart’ draws its inspiration from the cut-up technique famously used by William S. Burroughs. The song’s emphasis on appreciating the little things in life and keeping a youthful perspective makes it feel very relevant and meaningful more than ever.
The song starts off with a beautiful upbeat intro guitar lick, which sets the tone for the entire track. As the song progresses, the listener is treated to an electrifying sound that truly captures the essence of the song. The electric guitar played by Leo Abrahams is especially noteworthy as all the unique sounds come from it without the use of any synthesizers.
Kahnin’s vocal delivery perfectly conveyed the youthful energy the song radiates. The lyrics are written using the cut-up technique inspired by the great American writer William S. Burroughs. At first, it might seem erratic and disconnected but then it hits you that even the smallest moments in life are worth celebrating no matter how hard reality gets and it is an ode to that.
The production quality of the song is top-notch, thanks to Jimmy Deer who not only produced the track but also played the bass along with the mixing and mastering. The entire track is perfectly balanced, with each instrument complementing the others seamlessly and highlighting the spontaneity of the vocals.
