Higher Ground by Alternate Jane: Review
โHigher Groundโ by Alternate Jane is an essential listen for fans of atmospheric acoustic rock. In this melancholy song, the artist examines the emotions that come with new love and learns the complete truth about someone you care about.
Independent musician Alternate Jane was first turned down by record companies in her area, but she stuck with it and now has a touching and rocking song to show for her efforts. The songโs music is soothing, with dark and romantic undercurrents that aptly capture the complexities of romance. It builds from a strong opening, including fascinating synth and acoustic guitar chords. A beautiful acoustic guitar melody with clapping and a relaxing humming loop, powerful drums and cymbals, and the rougher notes of an electric guitar make up an outstanding musical combination. The vocals by Alternate Jane are emotive and engaging, bringing a feeling of romance and intensity to the song and dragging the listener into the plot. Working with multi-instrumentalist producer Melvin Rijlaarsdam brought out the dynamic elements in her voice, making it sound more polished and professional. Her angelic, sweet voice is hypnotic. The lyrics were inspired by the James Bond film โThe World is Not Enoughโ, and Jane penned the words before the music, resulting in a broken chord sequence and a harsher feel.
Alternate Janeโs musical and lyrical abilities are prominent in โHigher Groundโ, a beautifully produced and profoundly moving composition. This tune is ideal for a tense Valentineโs Day or any other romantic occasion.
