In Between by Tragically Unknown: Review
‘In Between’ by Tragically unknown is a song about the relationship and breakup with a depressed person who does not want your help and eventually letting go.
Tragically Unknown, an Indie Rock band from Reykjavik, Iceland consists of vocalist Helena Hafsteinsdottir, guitarist Oddur Mar and bassist Thorgnyr Albertsson. They have released their latest single ‘In Between’ in June.
‘In Between’ is an actually meaningful song. The feeling they are talking about is rare but is one of the darkest shades of human existence. It is written about how we eventually give up just to save ourselves, not because we are selfish. The song starts with clean guitars but heavily distorted guitar works can be heard in the chorus and thought the song in general with a 90’s grunge-inspired bassline to lure you in. The voice of Helena Hermansson has the natural quality of conveying a feeling of pain through her singing; the song will show you how effortless it is for her to express some pain without trying. Her harmonic reinforcements in the chorus amplify the core feeling and present it on a plate for the listeners to devour. The composition is compact and will easily make you want to belt along.
Tragically Unknown’s first single ‘Villain Origin Story’ got national radio play in Iceland and this song is bound to go in the same direction, an energetic song written perfectly for rock radio that will make listeners jam along.
