With a slew of milestones and accolades behind him, Vili V gets hopeful, resilient, and optimistic through shades of roots rock, blues, rockabilly, and so much more in his latest album, In Daddy’s Arms Again.
The album opens with the spirited “Tupelo Rhythm,” which’s seen much love across continents with great reviews. With catchy guitar riffs and upbeat rhythmic drumming, Vili V’s husky vocals deliver a powerful message of resilience through the imagery of the American South, the Mississippi Delta.
Coming up third is the sensual and soulful “Long Lonesome Highway” that swoons you with female backing vocals crooning along. The joyous optimism of the upbeat single “Constellation High” changes the mood. It takes you to a divine dimension, ready to motivate with Vili V’s enthusiasm, anticipation and mounting faith to conquer whatever you desire while rooted in that eternal destination. One of the album’s standout moments comes with the title track, “In Daddy’s Arms Again,” where Vili V tenderly sings about the longing to return home over gentle guitar playing rhythmically. The endearing string arrangements gushing underneath evoke nostalgia and longing, painting a picturesque portrait of the South.
In Daddy’s Arms Again reaches its emotional apex with the tenth track, “Never Be Alone,” where enchanting piano keys and swelling strings provide the backdrop for Vili V’s operatic and versatile, ranging vocals. As he sings of the power of faith through weariness, the song builds to a climactic crescendo, touching us through the end.
