In the video for his new song, โThousand Miles,โ The Kid Laroi finds himself in a war between good and evil, with the Australian singer playing both the hero and the villain in the Christian Breslauer-directed piece.
The good-natured Laroi (dressed in all-white, of course) is constantly at conflict with his more malevolent alter-ego, who wears a crimson suit, paying respect to the โshoulder angelโ and โshoulder devilโ image. The gentler version of Laroiโs goals are foiled by his evil character in a variety of violently campy ways, including being run over by a steamroller, pulled behind a car, and shoved in front of moving automobiles, whether attempting to pick up a barista, eat an ice cream cone, or simply go home.
โThousand Milesโ has been circulating for a while, with Kid Laroi first previewing the song on social media in early 2021 and then performing it live later that year. Earlier this month, the pop star attempted to utilize the songโs refrain โ โHere goes another mistake I know Iโm gonโ make, I know Iโm gonโ make tonightโ โ to suggest that working with Braun was his last major blunder. Braun then clarified the situation, claiming that he was in on the joke, that the two are fine, and that Laroi was only working with producer Andrew Watt, a Braun customer.
โThousand Milesโ is the Kid Laroiโs first single of 2022, and itโs set to appear on his formal first studio album, which will be titled Kids Are Growing Up, according to the Kid Laroi. The album follows Kid Laroiโs debut mixtape, F*ck Love, which was released in 2020 and was reissued three times in the following two years with new songs, including his hit collaboration with Justin Bieber, โStay.โ
