Ultra Funkular Sound, the solo project of Norwich-based producer Gavin Moore, finds its sweet spot in electronic music that values atmosphere over excess. His latest single, “Jump Right In,” channels the chilled spirit of progressive house into a sun-warmed, liberating track that feels tailor-made for watching the sky change colour at the end of a long day. Inspired by Chicane, the song carries an easygoing sense of escape without losing its forward momentum.
The track begins with warm, glowing textures that gradually expand into an immersive soundscape. A glistening piano emerges through the haze, giving the opening a bright weightlessness, while additional layers pulse into place and steadily push the arrangement upward. Rather than rushing toward its payoff, Moore lets the production breathe and build. When the beats finally come pressing through, they feel less like a sudden drop than the natural arrival of a rhythm that has been gathering beneath the surface all along.
Floating above it is a woman’s voice, ethereal and elusive, slipping through the electronic layers before occasionally stretching into an airy wail. The vocal becomes another texture within the production. There is something wonderfully open-ended about the way everything moves together: piano glimmers, pulses swell, and the rhythm keeps carrying the listener forward.
That sense of movement fits the whole idea of throwing yourself wholeheartedly into something you genuinely care about. “Jump Right In” creates a space where the idea can simply be felt. Made in Moore’s Norwich home studio in just a week, the track has the loose, uncomplicated joy of someone following an idea because it sounds fun.
All in all, this is progressive house built for freedom that’s warm, expansive, melodic, and chilled enough to let the world disappear for a while.
