Edinburgh’s Pray Silence arrive with “Kill Room” like a tightly coiled spring finally snapping loose. The follow-up to their debut single “Dragon of Chaos,” the track sees the duo, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Marky Wildtype alongside multidisciplinary artist and vocalist Sam Siggs, fully embracing the heavier direction they’ve been building toward for years.
The band crafts a sound where towering riffs, razor-sharp lyricism, and emotionally charged hooks collide, resulting in a modern rock anthem that leaves an immediate mark. Accompanied by a music video directed by filmmaker Sergio Cosme, the single feels like another confident step in the band’s steadily unfolding evolution.
“Kill Room” thrives on tension from the very first seconds. Splashes of bustling cymbals crash against thick, revving guitars that roar with controlled aggression, creating an atmosphere that feels urgent without descending into chaos. The instrumental foundation constantly pushes forward, driven by pounding drums and grinding riffs that refuse to let up.
Then come the vocals, and they steal the spotlight. Delivered through a sharp, raspy voice brimming with frustration, vulnerability, and conviction. The singer’s tightly wound delivery gives the verses an edge of desperation before expanding into anthemic moments. It’s a performance that captures raw emotion while maintaining remarkable control, striking listeners in the gut before the melody settles into their memory.
Beneath the heaviness lies impressive craftsmanship. Pray Silence blends intricate songwriting with accessible choruses, allowing intensity and melody to coexist rather than compete. Echoes of bands like Biffy Clyro, Arcane Roots, Fightstar, and Black Peaks can certainly be heard. The duo channels that lineage into something aggressive, thoughtful, and emotionally resonant.
With “Kill Room,” Pray Silence proves they’re far more than another heavy rock outfit emerging from Scotland. They deliver a song that hits with force, lingers with feeling, and hints at even bigger things to come as the band’s live chapter begins to take shape.
