Land of Light pulses confidently while resonating beautifully. LEMY (aka Anastasia Ledovskaya), in this debut, bridges Moscow and London, indie rock and synth-pop, English and Russian, all wrapped in a shimmering, introspective glow. The opener, “High,” floats in on pillowy melodies and staccato beats that prattle beneath LEMY’s husky, emotional vocal. She sings like she’s letting go of a secret, light and soothing yet loaded with meaning. The harmonies shimmer just out of reach, giving the track a soulful lift that makes it feel like a dream you’re slowly waking up from.
But just when you think the EP’s going to stay in ambient waters, “Be Who You Are” takes flight as it pulses with liberation. All catchy, twinkling synths and that pulsing rhythm feel like a heartbeat mid-run. Whereas, LEMY’s voice soars with graceful power.
Then there’s “Part of the Way (To Mother),” arguably the emotional gut punch of the project. With gentle piano and jittery percussion, it feels like a confessional. LEMY’s voice is thick with longing, almost breaking as she yearns for her mother’s presence.
Produced by Vladislav Mazur at Chuvakam Studio and sculpted with delicate care, Land of Light balances bedroom vulnerability and studio polish effortlessly.
With this project, LEMY is debuting a worldview, with her profundity becoming more prevalent than the need for perfection. Listen to Land of Light on Spotify.
