The song immediately transports you back in time with its starting slide guitars. The vocal harmonies and instruments work together to produce a thick, enveloping sound that draws the listener in.

Due to the song’s relaxed tempo, its intricate melody and instrumentation may be fully appreciated. There’s a definite 70s vibe to the song thanks to the warbling organ and acoustic guitar, but it’s given a 21st-century twist by the use of spacey voice effects and inventive sound design. Constantly shifting tempos and textures keep the listener on their toes and interested in the music. The outstanding musicianship shown by Claxton is what really makes ‘Last Night Was a Dream’ distinct.
