Love The Way You Lie by Micha Maat: Review
Micha Maat’s rendition of Eminem’s “Love The Way You Lie” hit track is simply mind-blowing. The song gets a folksy transformation with acoustic guitars and an intimate singer at the mic. Ultimately, it’s a cover I was pleasantly surprised to hear because it changed the genre from the original and added its own cadence.
Oh man, this track takes me back. I remember being a senior in high school at the time and constantly hearing the track on repeat. Me and my close friends tried to outmatch each other by spitting out Eminem’s rap bars and trying our darn best to sing like Rihanna. Fast forward to 2023, and it amazes me how this song is still relevant today. Micha Maat’s cover of this excellent track reminded me of the good old days, and it’s a sentiment I’ll cherish for a long time. His deep voice matched perfectly with the track’s theme, and the acoustic guitar was a fine addition. Rihanna’s portions now sound like a medieval folk tale, and Eminem’s rap verse feels like a deep spoken word piece. It had a fantastic resonance, I’ve gotta say, and how Micha executed the tone impressed me to the core.
The emotional pull of “Love The Way You Lie” was already felt in its original state. However, that intensity was taken to another level with Micha Maat’s cover. Thus, I highly recommend hearing his rendition, please don’t miss out on it!
