Mason Country Line by Divining Rod: Review
Divining Rod is a four-piece band with Miyuki Furtado on Vocals, electric guitar, and acoustic guitar, Patrick Harmon on Electric guitar and vocals, Matt Svigals on bass guitar, and John Malone on Drums. Their recent single “Mason County Line” is a country rock ballad. They draw inspiration from Willie Nelson, Joe Ely, Buck Owens, Roger Millers, and many more. It was recorded and mixed at Vice Studios in Brooklyn NY by Anthony TJ ‘Rocky’ Gallo and it was mastered by Mat Leffler-Schulman.
The song begins with a muted guitar riff, then enters the smooth and powerful voice carrying the classic country tone. As the song progresses and other instruments join the mix, the song takes its full form. It gives a very strong country music feel, the bass line is distinct and tightly wholesome keeping up with the beat of the drums. The guitar work is marvelous with its awesome solo, muted riff, and rhythm. The simple yet groovy drumming gave the track a big boost, altogether it was a magical track to listen to. The transitions of the song were done impressively, and the whole composition was very mellow and uplifting.
It was a well-composed track with precision and great command on the vocals and the instrumentals. Although it’s not a honky-tonk country track, it can easily fit into any country playlist.
