Bad Valentines’ debut EP, “Memory Tattoos,” lands like a sunflare in the middle of a dark room, blazing, emotional, and raw in all the right places. Hailing from Helsinki, this indie rock outfit knows how to mix grit with heart, and the result is a four-track journey through nostalgia, longing, and survival, with enough bite to keep things from ever getting too soft.
Opening track “Last Days In The Sun” grabs you by the collar with gritty, grinding guitars and pounding drums that practically vibrate out of your headphones. The vocals are rich and urgent, loaded with tension and fire, as the singer tears through the verses with purpose.
Then “Summer Ends In June” comes in with poetic lines that float over sparkling cymbals and restless percussion. It’s a more laid-back track in delivery, but still pulses with emotion underneath. There’s something deeply melancholic in the lyric, “Time runs out, the sun goes down,” as if you’re watching a perfect moment slip away in real time.
“Mariia” changes the mood entirely. The vocals get heavier, more hypnotic, almost haunted. It’s a chilling anti-war track that refuses to look away. The grinding guitar and bleak atmosphere match the song’s subject matter, those caught in the middle of war, praying for peace.
Closing track “Carry Me Home” wraps it all up with a personal ache. Over bustling drums and aching vocals, the singer delivers a confession of love that’s permanent, unforgettable—like the tattoos the EP is named for.
“Memory Tattoos” make a good first impression and brands itself into you. Check it out on Spotify.
