Requiem & Spinner by Movie Club: Review
Movie Club are an astounding psychedelic rock duo. The intrigue is sparked by Jessamyn Violet’s groovy drumming and Vince Cuneo’s atmospheric guitar pieces. Their double single “Requiem” & “Spinner” are two instrumental numbers that’ll send fans of hard rock, and 90s psychedelic rock on a nostalgic trip. I can vouch for myself in that manner, ‘cause Movie Club’s edgy take on the genre is such a vibe, and pertains to melodies reminiscent of youth, and all the exciting facets that tag along.
Both ”Requiem” & “Spinner” are incredible tracks that have a flow of rhythm arriving from each instrumental portion, The duo’s chemistry and overall sense of melody are top-notch and they are masters at creating a sound defining their force. Oh and they’ve got a force all right, as fiery and versatile as it is, the artists express themselves quite vividly through the textures of each song. Thus, it’s a lovely experience to witness, and for a psychedelic rock nut such as myself, it elates me to hear music as such still relevant today. It’s not a forgotten genre people, but rather a legacy that has been cemented onto the music biz for generations.
I’d gladly recommend the music of Movie Club to anyone, especially those new to the aforementioned genres. The musicians add a pleasant twist to this category that is both comfortable to hear and won’t overwhelm the audience. With that being said, how about giving “Requiem” & “Spinner” a shot folks?
